I am reminded of the story of the japanese translater, who seemed often to use too few words. Lke when the visiting dignitary told a joke. Translater spoke very briefly. Everyone laughed. On being asked "What did you say" the translater said: "Sir has told a joke, will everyone please laugh" :-) 2) I have still been immersed in the Higher Ed question. " . . . . and (we were) discussing the knotty issues of how to engage our colleagues and students". knotty indeed! Something may emerge soon. The question of identity still interests me. I'm convinced there are people I work with who lecture in courses who do not see themselves as a teacher.
